Study of Luke 9 - New Port Family meeting
Study of Luke 9 - ref Campbell Morgan
ref: Herold Luke 23:11
that prophet: Deu 18:15
Darby: 51 And it came to pass when the days of his receiving up were fulfilled, that *he* stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem.
luke 12:50 - set his face steadfast toward Jerusalem -
Summary: luke chapter 9 is a pivatol point in the Gospel of Luke, when God speaks three times in Luke. The first time when Jesus is baptised, the 2nd is on top of Mt. Hermon (here in chapter 9) and the third time is when our Lord is about to go to the Cross. Using this 3 instances, we could link and set stages of the whole book of the Gospel according to Luke.

Hebrew exhortation I by Dana Congdon at MWR may 2008
Sermon 1
Heb 6:17-20
heb 12:25-29
Heb 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warneth from heaven:
Heb 12:26 whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more will I make to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven.
Heb 12:27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
Heb 12:28 Wherefore, receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, whereby we may offer service well-pleasing to God with reverence and awe:
Heb 12:29 for our God is a consuming fire.
Heb 13:32
Strong exhortation is prepared for the maturity
two meanings: warning and encouragement
God's unchangable purposes
King in the kingdom
bring many sons to glory
Four reasons introductory why God is giving us strong exhortation
1. always preceeds a great shaking
2. it anchors us to the unshakable, unchangable 6:19
many security shakes off our hands
we must be anchored to Jesus only
not outward traditions, doctines
3. help to presson us to higher ground
heb 10:14
4. wake up to the reward
Revelation - Jesus is the priest: revelation
let go of outward things, and hold Jesus their high priest for the time of shaking
Center: draw nigh to the high priest
Astonia testimony: 1916 prophescy to the leader of the group
the whole assembly moved to brasil
Unto maturity - faith in the word of God
by faith in the absolute truth of the word of God, we are prepared for anything
absolute faith in the word of God
Four things need absolute believed
1. Jesus is God
2. the perfect sacrifice of Jesus is one time for all time
once for all
3. There's no going back
"no shrinking back"
4. there's soon a great shaking
the great shaking is the door to great reward
unshakable kingdom remains
the history of early christians - Joppa
what if all of us above 30 are mature in the Lord, what will be the result -
a great revival
Luke 15 - the prodigal son
Heb 6:17-20
heb 12:25-29

Luke 15 - the prodigal son
Hebrew exhortation II by Dana Congdon at MWR may 2008
heb 6:4-10
heb 10:26-37
Holiness filled the book of the Hebrews
Exhortations
Hebrews speaks an important principle of the NT
- the problem of living in the shadows Heb 8:5, Heb 10:1
col 2:8
When we live in shadows we thought our knowledge is reality
Unless the Cross of the Lord works daily in our lives,
we tend to leave the reality into the shadows
Biggest problem in the US is idol worship - Mammon, health
Are our meetings living?
Do we have living faith? - faith is not just belief, but obey
The problem of the Hebrew believers at that time - believe in Angels/messengers
Is our God the living God?
speaking, holy, unpredicatable
AB. Simpson - teaching on the book of the Joshua - Caleb wanted the best: hebron
in Hebrews, Jesus is mentioned 13 times better
1:4, 6:9 7:19, 7:22, 8:6, 9:23, 10:34,11, 11:16, 11:40, 12:24
8:13
What does the best means?
1. move from outward things to a person - Jesus
2. once the best is taken God will not allow us to rest unless we stay with the best
3. we cannot set aside the good for the best
until the work of the Cross takes it away
4. we need the good, but the good must serve the best
- it's only a means to express the best
our forms need to be tested to make sure we are in the living way
the wine needs to determine the wine skin not the other way around
5. choosing the best is the way of alive
heb 10:26-37

Faithful servants I : sermon at MWR May 2008 by Brother Godwin Sun
1. God is faithful to Himself
jame 1:17
2. the Son is faithful to the Father
and a faithful and meciful high priest
faithful and true
3. the Holy Spirit is also faithful
in the OT: Gen 24 - the Holy Spirit is looking for a bride for Christ
Three aspsects of faithness demands to us:
based upon the three types of relationship we have with him
Father and children, sheperd and sheep ... many relationship
1. marrital relationship
faithful to His name
- rev 14:1 belongs to His name;
- consider: do we glorify His name
the reason of the faithfulness is because of Love
2. friend relationship
faithful to the Lord Himself
3. master and servant
jame 1:17
