notes on listerning to sheperd's Psalm

notes on listerning to sheperd's Psalm

Psalm 23

the first part of the message is centered on Christ himself, the good sheperd
all through this psalm, the central focus is on our Lord Jesus; what a good sheperd

Rest:
    Matt 11
the dual rest in this verse
    - the initial and immediate rest of receiving His life
    - the second rest in the process of renewing our mind
there's a rest for our souls
a complete rest in Christ Jesus

He restores my soul

The Sheperd's own work in sanctifying our body, soul and spirit
-the leader and completer of our faith

looking steadfast unto Jesus, the author and completer of our faith

In the end, David sought and found the cause of the Sheperd, His house -And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah for ever. - a man after God's own heart

Questions reading Philemon

Questions reading Philemon

as reading through philemon, felt the love and gentleness on the one hand; on the other hand, quite striked by theverse 21 - having confidence in your obedience, I write to ou, knowing that you will do even more than I sa ...

obedience : many times sounds very foreign to our modern ears

My first impression from this word is that there have to bbe some higher authrority; or higher hierarchy, or even higher intellect or power for us to obedient to something greater than us

it is true that all creature should obey their creator

yet, futhermore, a willing obedience out of love, devotion and worship is muich more than a mere powerplay. it is a self volunary willing emptying oneself, pouring out of love and giving; it is only in the life of our Lord Christ Jesus, who even though as God, yet humbled Himself as a man, and yet died on the Cross for our sake.

Phillipians 2:
Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; 8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name; 10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

funny thoughts on marriage theory back in 2005

Marriage Happiness Determinator Theory 1/17/2005

I cannot promise this determinator will guarantee you have a happier marriage life, but certain diagnostic and suggestive for preparing, and improving the chances for happier marriage.

(ATTENTION: just theory at this level! Please do take your own RISK in using this calculation)

Background: in the pilgrim's road, one (green ball) can be found in seveal possible positions - from barely a child in Christ (the bottom of the chart), to a grownup in Christ (the top) enjoying the blessings of heavenly places. Yet the process is against gravity, but through the propellant of faith, our ways are upward.

Preparations:
1. critial period - before critcal period, as babies in Christ, though the new life is growing, the old man is so big, dragging us down at every possible chance (region I), where we can call this region, dark struggles. After critical period, more experienced in the following of the Holy Spirit rather than submitting to the flesh, we reach region II, where there will be more victories, peace, joys and fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Critial period is a theoretical point where life can go either ways.

2. marriage relationship - not drawn in the graph, to represent marriage between a brother and a sister, we can just put their life's road map parallel to each other, and draw the love line. (sorry didn't consider marriage with non-believers, there will be at least one side to fall off the page)

....

Conclusions:

In one Spirit: Bones of my bone, flesh of my flesh type: is both are passed the critical period.

The worst chance is both are under the critical period (but still hopeful)

Psalm 15

in this Psalm of David, he described the states/status of man, who are near to God, and dwell and enjoy the presence of God - he is not a man doing some great things, but a man with a true heart before God; a man keeps his acts right, keep his tongue, honor justice hate evil, and not covetnous over gain. This man shall dwell in His presence.

Psalm 15
A psalm of David.
1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who may live on your holy hill?

2 He whose walk is blameless
and who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from his heart

3 and has no slander on his tongue,
who does his neighbor no wrong
and casts no slur on his fellowman,

4 who despises a vile man
but honors those who fear the LORD,
who keeps his oath
even when it hurts,

5 who lends his money without usury
and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things
will never be shaken.

the Cross and the the flesh

http://www.christiantapeministry.com/tape.php?id=2367

1st part- the Cross and the old man

Romans 5- the princple from one to many; one man sins - all, also one man's righteousness - many ; only two men in the sight of God, only one man for the all the - natural man, only one man- Christ for all in Christ

the old man is the man of old - the corporate man of Adam's race- we have to be delivered from the old man, delivered from Adam - only through death can we be delivered from the old man

1 Cor 15 - in Christ

Romans 6:6 God's way of deliverance is not eradication but seperation; use the way of isolation to deliver us from sin; to such a degree that sin is so isolated that it can not longer work anymore

Roman 6:11 - reckon yourself dead to sin(in Christ Jesus), but alive to God in Christ Jesus - this is faith, based on facts and not on feelings - the objective facts Christ has done historically - when we see Christ, we found that we are truly dead in Christ

Body - the unemployed body to sin, but yield yourself to God, your members as instruments of righteousness

10-22-06 Sunday message on the topic of the Cross and the Church

10-22-06 Sunday message on the topic of the Cross and the Church

verses: Matt 16, Colos 1:13

the focus of the message in on Christ's words, in Matt 16

first part on Matt 16: 16, from the revelation to Peter, our Lord said He is going to build His church on this rock - the intepretation of the rock here we can think of the context, where Peter just received this great revelation about Christ's identity. - this is a very great and important revelation, not just merely mental, but is a revelation of Jesus's identy. - which we much need to pray and receive. - another thought on this matter is the act of proclaiming at the same time of receiving this revelation - thus this revelation becomes reality on this earth, in our personal life.

second part pays close attention to the word His Church - where Christ referred to as "my Church". this reminds us the intimacy of the Church's relationship with Christ, as well as reminds us the simple meaning about the word "Church" - the called out ones. where the people are called out to Christ, assembled for the simple reason to be with Him - where He actually imparts His very life to all of His body(also ref Colos 1:13).- which are more developed in the next part.

The last part of the mssages emphasized on the Cross - take up his cross and follow me. The act of taking up the cross, in historical context means already sentenced to death, already died - think about the meaning of our baptism; through this death of His, we are freed from self, and entering into freedom of obeying God. Another thoughts occurs to me is that this is not of works, but of grace through faith in Him. Praise Him for caring to the deepest of our being, and reached to the deepest of our sinful beining to bring us to life in Him.
